Classical Reading List

The following is a recommended reading list of key books which have either influenced the formation of Wicca directly or their subject matter did. There are many more modern books that we could recommend on the topic of Wicca directly, which are also more accessible and easier to read. If you are first learning about Wicca, take a look at our Neophyte Reading List. The ones provided here, however, are those that were available at key times within the evolution of the symbols and rituals of the arte. We have tried to keep the list as short as possible, while still covering the majority of the mysteries of the craft. Anyone who takes the time to read, study, practice and understand the contents of these books will have a very firm foundation upon which to stand:

  • Aradia : Gospel of Witches, by Charles Leland
  • High Magic’s Aid, by Gerald Gardner
  • Liber XV : The Gnostic Mass, by Aleister Crowley
  • Magic in Theory and Practice, by Aleister Crowley (Part II - Ceremonial Magick)
  • Moon Magic, by Dion Fortune
  • Mystical Qabala, by Dion Fortune
  • The Qabalastic Tarot by Robert Wang
