"He must teach; but he may make severe the ordeals."
- Liber AL vel Legis I:38
We also provide a learning path which takes initiates through the different degrees (I°-III°) within Wicca using a structured format over a period of time. This format follows the Qabalaistic Tree of Life and is meant to be challenging, but not daunting. Through the degrees, initiates will learn the core foundation of Wicca as well as Ceremonial Magick and elements of Traditional Witchcraft. Students are also introduced to key skills, such as different leadership techniques so they are equipped with everything necessary to go on to potentially run their own covens in the future.
Although we can't divulge the entire syllabus to non initiates, we can provide a high level overview of how we structure the teaching through the degrees.
The learning approach outlined on our Neophyte page underpins the entire path. As you progress, the focus shifts toward hands-on practice, shared rites, and group ritual work. In keeping with tradition, there are limits to what we can share prior to initiation; the Neophyte stage helps us get to know you and ensure there's a good fit with the coven's working style.
Learn MoreDevelop a solid foundation in Wiccan practices, structure, and symbolism while deepening your connection to the Gods. This training prepares you to serve as a Priest or Priestess and support the wider community. By the end of this degree, you'll be confident working within the traditional Wiccan framework and joining any circle. During this stage, you'll focus especially on working with the elements.
Explore a wide range of magical practices and their workings, including Hermeticism, Planetary Magic, Invocations, and the Qabala. Learn to unite the above, the below, and the horizon, and discover the ways of traveling between worlds. Begin teaching and guiding others while preparing the materials and workings known as the Lesser Operations of the Art. This is considered the most expansive of the degrees, just as life itself is the broadest of the three states of being.
Deepen your understanding of Witchcraft by exploring different witchcraft traditions. You will focus on leadership, guiding groups, and working with the deeper mysteries. At this stage, the path turns more fully toward mysticism and the Great Work, seeking greater unity with the seen and unseen, the God and the Goddess.
After each degree initiation or elevation, you'll be invited to a dedicated workshop that explores the ritual in depth, explaining its symbolism and meaning. These sessions also help expand your mystical and magical understanding, setting the foundation for the training that follows.
The syllabus follows the Craft degrees of Apprentice (I°), Journeyman (II°), and Master (III°). In the first degree, students focus on building a strong foundation in the traditional Wiccan system. By the second degree, they are expected to have studied an additional system of practice, allowing them to compare and contrast different approaches before being invited to pursue the third degree.
Where it is public and not oath bound, we have also included knowledge lectures and materials from other occult orders that are linked to the corresponding Sephiroth on the tree of life. In many cases material is common across magical orders, which draw from a similar source.
Individuals who attain the 3rd degree and successfully complete the full learning path are formally accredited as having achieved a recognised level of knowledge, ability, experience, and quality of ritual technique.
Our learning path is shaped by the Tria Prima — the three philosophical principles of alchemy — and their connection to the Trivium, reflecting the journey from knowledge to understanding to mastery:
Progression through the initiate training path is based on meeting specific requirements in knowledge, experience, and ability. This includes developing mastery of ritual practice and self-discipline, deepening your understanding of the occult, demonstrating service to the community, and gaining a thorough grasp of the Wiccan system. The minimum time required to progress from First to Third Degree is three years; however, the learning path is designed for each person to move at their own pace. For many, the journey takes longer, allowing space for deeper integration and personal growth. Each degree requires at least a year of study and practice to ensure you have the time and opportunity to meet all the criteria before advancing to the next stage.
The Wiccan system guides you through the first three degrees, aligned with the lower spheres of the Tree of Life. For those who wish to journey further, our learning path continues beyond these foundations. From Tiphereth onward — known as the Fourth Degree — new routes of study open, but access is by invitation only. At this stage, students are introduced to a wider range of practices and systems, including Solomonic, Goetic, Enochian, and Chaos Magick, expanding their understanding of the Art beyond traditional Wicca.
If you are an existing initiate who has recently moved to our area, we warmly welcome you to reach out. We understand that many initiates may not have had the opportunity to join covens that place a strong emphasis on teaching and study. We also welcome these people to reach out to us as well and plan to offer a distance learning course for initiates in the future too.
